Council
Council is the body responsible for the professional aspects of the specialty of anaesthesia, with responsibility for developing and implementing the College's policies on clinical and professional matters, and responding to the current issues affecting professional practice and professional matters, and responding to current issues affecting professional practice and standards.
The role of the Council is to provide clinical leadership to the specialty, setting standards for education, learning and examinations and ensuring adherence to evidence-based practice.
Members of Council are elected and co-opted from all groups, from Anaesthetists in Training to Consultants and SAS Doctors, as well as regional Boards and specific stakeholder groups. It’s the role of the Council members to make sure the College represents the needs of members and the profession.
