Resuscitation and Transfer

Stage learning outcomes

  • Able to manage the on going care of post-resuscitation patients
  • Independently cares for critically ill adult patients during inter-hospital transfers by road

Leads a multidisciplinary resuscitation team from the initial assessment and management of a critically ill patient, through to handover to Critical Care or another specialist team

Maintains contemporary knowledge and skills required for the delivery of successful resuscitation

Examples of evidence

  • SLEs throughout stage of training including out of hours experience.
Personal activities and reflections:
  • simulation courses: adult life support, trauma resuscitation, and transfer.

Suggested supervision level

  • 3 - supervisor on call from home for queries able to provide directions via phone or non-immediate attendance.

Demonstrates resuscitation skills in neonates and children

Examples of evidence

  • simulation courses: neonatal resuscitation, paediatric life support.

Suggested supervision level

  • 2b - supervisor within hospital for queries, able to provide prompt direction/assistance.

Undertakes discussions with patients, families and colleagues to aid decision making on resuscitation, including DNACPR ‘do not attempt cardiopulmonary resuscitation’ orders
