A new Anaesthesia Quality Improvement study day at the College, suitable for all anaesthetists who would like to increase their knowledge in Quality Improvement or have the opportunity to showcase their work.  This will be an all-day event with sessions on Introduction to QI, QI Measurement and the Psychology of Change, as well as keynote speakers updating on College QI programmes. It is also an exciting opportunity for anaesthetists to present their QI work and be eligible for achieving the best QI project award for 2024.

Pricing Terms and Conditions

Payment must be made at the time of booking unless otherwise stated. The RCoA, FICM and FPM are unable to hold places on events without payment. Credit or debit card payments must be made online via our card payment handler Stripe, or by phone. We do not accept purchase orders or raise invoices for places on our events. 

Discounts are available for some membership types at the rates stated below. You must be eligible for the discount both at the time of the booking and at the time of the event itself. We may ask for proof of your member status at any point. If you are unable to prove your entitlement to the discount we may charge you the full event rate, or invite you to update your membership status accordingly. In such a situation we may withhold access to the event until your updated payment clears, or your new membership status is confirmed.

Poster Competition

Theme
You are invited to submit a poster for presentation at the QI Study Day, on 10 September. Winning entries will be selected to showcase their work to the audience in a quick-fire 5-minute session.

This year’s theme is quality improvement project relevant to anaesthesia, perioperative medicine or intensive care. Selection will be based on the best use and reporting of QI methodologies.

If you have worked on a project which falls into this category, please submit a poster for a chance to showcase your work and to win a £50 Amazon voucher.

Eligibility

The competition is open to foundation medical students, trainees, non-trainees, SAS Doctors and consultant anaesthetists.

Prize

1st prize: £50 Amazon voucher

The top ranked entries will be chosen to give a 5-minute quick-fire presentation on their poster. The top entry will be announced at the end of this quick-fire session.
The top entries will have free entry to the study day.

How to enter

  • Submit a digital copy of your poster as an attachment to events@rcoa.ac.uk along with a signed copy of the form here.
  • Please follow the poster preparation guidelines on page 2; failure to follow the guidelines could result in disqualification from the competition.

 

What happens next?

  • The closing date for entries will be 23.59 Monday 5 August 2024.
  • A panel of RCoA judges will assess all submissions shortly after the closing date. Authors will be notified as soon as possible if they have been invited to display their poster at the QI Study Day
  • The selected winners will be given a slot to present their poster during the live programme.
  • Authors selected to present their poster will need to book a place at the event in order to display their poster.
