Simulation and novice airway training

Simulated Anaesthetic Scenarios

Simulated Anaesthesia Scenarios (SAS) is a Royal Bournemouth Hospital Anaesthetic Sim Faculty initiative, created to improve access to simulation for the whole anaesthetic team. These are real time, unscripted simulations, covering the Association of Anaesthetists guidance for management of anaesthetic emergencies.

This resource is intended as a refresher for those returning to work, a revision aid for trainees with exams approaching, an educational tool for novice anaesthetists, a CPD tool for experienced anaesthetists wanting to update their emergency management and a freely accessible tool to be used on courses to guide simulation training or demonstrate human factors.

With education increasingly taking place online, we hope that these scenarios bridge the gap between guidelines and reality and, in part, make up for the current difficulties surrounding delivery of hands-on training.

New videos will be added regularly, initially covering emergencies and moving on to provide a comprehensive resource to complement the core anaesthetic curriculum.
