The Primary FRCA is the first part of the FRCA examination. The College recommends that trainees do not sit any of the Primary examination components until they have completed the initial assessment of competency in anaesthesia.
Successful candidates on the Final FRCA examination are awarded the fellowship by examination of the Royal College of Anaesthetists and may use the letters FRCA after their name.
The Primary FRCA MCQ is a three-hour written exam comprising 90 Single Best Answer (SBA) questions. Candidates must pass the MCQ exam before they can become eligible to sit the Primary FRCA OSCE/SOE examination.
