Annual Review 2019

"Welcome to the 2019 Annual Review of the Royal College of Anaesthetists.

During 2019, we made significant advances in many areas of work across the College, both with and on behalf of our membership. Some, but not all, of this work is highlighted within this report.

As the College’s president and a working anaesthetist, I can see directly how the work of our College is positively impacting upon healthcare across the United Kingdom and internationally."

Introducing our first Sustainability Strategy, establishing the Centre of Perioperative Care and reaching a combined membership of 23,000 are only a few of the College's 2019 highlights. The Annual Review 2019 showcases key achievements in the main organisational areas of:

  • enhancing education and learning
  • innovating clinical quality and research
  • championing anaesthesia
  • transforming through technology
  • resourcing the future of anaesthesia
  • improving patients' experience.

Without the unwavering support, dedication and commitment of our fellows and members this College could not deliver the amount and quality of work we achieve year after year.
