Vice Chair – FRCA Examination

Volunteer | Part-Time | 3-Year Fixed Term

The Royal College of Anaesthetists is seeking to appoint a Vice Chair of the FRCA Examination.

This senior leadership role offers the opportunity to shape the strategic direction, governance and future development of the FRCA examination, ensuring it remains robust, fair and aligned with GMC standards.

Working closely with the Chair of the Examinations Committee, the Vice Chair will support examination strategy, quality assurance and continuous improvement across all FRCA components.

About the Role

The Vice Chair will:

  • Deputise for the Chair of the Examinations Committee
  • Contribute to examination strategy and governance
  • Represent the Committee at key internal and external meetings
  • Work closely with EDAG and delivery teams to support quality and performance
  • Lead or support strategic examination projects

This is a senior voluntary appointment within the College’s examination governance structure.

 

Eligibility

Applicants must:

  • Have at least five years’ experience as an FRCA examiner
  • Be a current clinical practitioner
  • Have leadership experience and understanding of assessment principles
  • Be in good standing with the GMC and RCoA / FICM / FPM
  • Have employer support to undertake the role

     

Term and Expenses

  • Three-year appointment (extendable subject to review)
  • Voluntary role; reasonable expenses reimbursed in line with College policy
