Logbook for LLP users
The Lifelong Learning Platform (LLP) includes a logbook feature designed to help you record clinical and procedural experience throughout your training, starting from the novice period and beyond.
Anaesthetists in training are expected to maintain an anonymised log of all cases they are involved in. Keeping your logbook up to date is highly recommended and can support reflection, assessments, and portfolio reviews.
You can use this section to:
- Create new logbook entries
- Review and edit existing cases
There are six types of logbook cases available on the Lifelong Learning Platform (LLP):
- Anaesthetic Case
Used to record individual anaesthetic cases, including pre-operative assessment, induction, maintenance, and emergence. Suitable for both general and regional anaesthesia across various surgical specialties. - Intensive Care Medicine Case
Captures patient interactions in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), including admissions, procedures, clinical reviews, and interventions. Ideal for logging critical care experience as part of ICM training. - Acute Pain Case
For documenting experience in managing acute pain, including ward rounds, referrals, and procedures such as epidurals or nerve blocks. - Chronic Pain Case
Used to record involvement in the care of patients with chronic pain. This may include outpatient clinics, multidisciplinary team meetings, and interventional treatments. - Procedure (Stand-Alone)
Allows you to log individual clinical procedures outside of a full case context — for example, arterial line insertion, lumbar puncture, or central venous access. - Session Case
Designed to capture a full clinical session or list, such as a theatre list, ICU shift, or acute/chronic pain round. Useful when summarising multiple cases or activities within one session.
