The College publishes statistical information on pass / fail rates for both FRCA Primary and Final examinations. Further information on exam processes, standard setting, reliability and quality assurance can be found in the Primary and Final chair's annual exam review reports.
This document sets out the current process which allows the College to recognise outstanding achievement in the fields of anaesthesia or relevant science, critical care medicine or pain medicine.
Successful candidates on the Final FRCA examination are awarded the fellowship by examination of the Royal College of Anaesthetists and may use the letters FRCA after their name.
The Primary FRCA is the first part of the FRCA examination. The College recommends that trainees do not sit any of the Primary examination components until they have completed the initial assessment of competency in anaesthesia.
The Fellowship of the Royal College of Anaesthetists (FRCA) examination tests the knowledge, skills, behaviours and attitudes required by anaesthetists in training.
