Professional life and career
Postgraduate career
Joined the RAMC in 1915 as a Lieutenant and served continuously through to retirement in 1954 as Lt Colonel, having been President, Standing Medical Board (Eastern Command) 1945-54. He served in France during WW1, India for most of the inter-war years apart from a period (1934-6) at Cambridge Hospital (Aldershot), having been appointed a specialist in anaesthetics in 1928. During the first half of WW2 in Ceylon and spent the second half back in India commanding a military hospital.
