Professional life and career

Postgraduate career

After graduation Wilson was Orthopaedic House Surgeon at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambrdge. He worked as Casualty Officer & Resident Anaesthetist at Sheffield Royal Infirmary1942-46. He served as Major (Specialist Anaesth.) in the RAMC in 1947. From 1949 to 1950 he was Anaesthetist at City General Hospital, Sheffield. He was appointed Consultant Anaesthetist at City General Hospital, Sheffield and Beckett Hospital, Barnsley in 1951; from 1953 he was Consultant Anaesthetist for United Sheffield Hospitals.

Professional interests and activities

Member of the BMA.  In 1955 he co-authored a paper on a method of anaesthesia for intraocular surgery, incorporating intravenous chlorpromazine hydrochloride with pethidine.
