Professional life and career

Postgraduate career

After graduation Rea undertook house jobs at Dundee Royal Infirmary, followed by resident surgical officer at Leicester Royal Infirmary. During the Second World War he served in the RAMC, attaining the rank of Major and was designated ‘Surgical Specialist’. After demobilisation he moved to Edinburgh and became an anaesthetist at the Royal Infirmary. There he was appointed as a Consultant Anaesthetist in 1965 and he remained in this post until his retirement in 1975.

Professional interests and activities

He was a member of the Scottish Society of Anaesthetists.

Other biographical information

He married Mary Isobel Wallace in Dundee in 1940. On retirement he moved to Aberfeldy, where he lived until his death at the age of 67 years, survived by his wife.
