Job description approvals

The College manages the approval of job descriptions and person specifications for consultant and SAS grade posts in anaesthesia, intensive care medicine, and pain medicine.

This support follows the NHS (Appointment of Consultants) Regulations, updated in January 2005, which state that NHS trusts should consult the College Regional Advisor about job descriptions and person specifications before advertising a role.

  1. A description of the hospital, trust, or board

  2. Specific information about the post and the department where it is based

  3. A statement about the wellbeing support available to members of the department

  4. The job plan

  5. An appropriate person specification
