AaE: Anaesthetists' non-technical skills (ANTS)
This course will enhance understanding of human factors and non-technical skills as applied to anaesthesia.

This one-day course is designed for anaesthetic trainees and consultants who wish to enhance their understanding of human factors and non-technical skills as applied to anaesthesia. It is also aimed at anaesthetists in a clinical or educational supervisor role who wish to become more familiar with using ANTS for observation and feedback for trainees.
The faculty will record their lectures for you to view, at your own convenience, prior to attending the course. These will comprise of x6 lectures which will be available 2 weeks before the event. You are required to view them all before the event date. On the event day the programme will be split between live recaps and Q&A for the pre-recorded material, and breakout groups for group discussion.

Pricing Terms and Conditions
Payment must be made at the time of booking unless otherwise stated. The RCoA, FICM and FPM are unable to hold places on events without payment. Credit or debit card payments must be made online via our card payment handler Stripe, or by phone. We do not accept purchase orders or raise invoices for places on our events.
Discounts are available for some membership types at the rates stated below. You must be eligible for the discount both at the time of the booking and at the time of the event itself. We may ask for proof of your member status at any point. If you are unable to prove your entitlement to the discount we may charge you the full event rate, or invite you to update your membership status accordingly. In such a situation we may withhold access to the event until your updated payment clears, or your new membership status is confirmed.
Speakers
Clinical Content Lead for AaE: Anaesthetists non technical skills (ANTS)
Pam hails originally from Northern Ireland, but moved to Scotland in 1999 to study Medicine at the University of Edinburgh. After graduating in 2004, she spent some time working in Emergency Medicine, before embarking on a year of working and travelling in New Zealand and South America.
Upon returning to Scotland she took up Specialty Training in Anaesthetics in the West of Scotland. In 2013-2014 she undertook a Fellowship in Simulation Based Education at the Scottish Centre for Simulation and Clinical Human Factors (SCSCHF) at Forth Valley Royal Infirmary, Larbert. It was during this year that she undertook a project with the team at the SCSCHF (including the original creators of the ANTS Framework), and the RCOA Anaesthetists’ as Educators team, to develop a training course for ANTS. The course was first piloted at the SCSCHF in mid 2014, and rolled out to the RCOA AaE Programme in late 2014, and has been running in both locations since.
Pam completed her training in Anaesthetics in 2016, and made the move back to South East Scotland to take up a Consultant post at St. John’s Hospital in Livingston. She continues to enjoy teaching and training ANTS both in the clinical setting and as part of the faculty on the ANTS course.
