Events frequently asked questions

Before the event

Use our events calendar to browse upcoming events. Each event has an individual registration link which will open a new window to our secure online booking system. We can only confirm your place once payment has been made.

If an event is not currently available to book, please email events@rcoa.ac.uk with the name and date of the event and we will add you to the mailing list for this event. You will then be notified via email when booking becomes available.

Once you have paid for your event, you will receive an automatic email from WorldPay confirming payment. You will receive a second email from the events team which will confirm your booking and provide additional information about the event.

You will only receive a confirmation email once payment has been made. For payments made over the phone or via payment link it can take up to two working days for the confirmation email to come through. If you have not received a confirmation email within three working days of payment, please contact events@rcoa.ac.uk

The majority of our events are open to anyone who might find a particular event of value and interest, regardless if they are a member or not. There may be some events where there is not a price available for a certain group (i.e students/foundation doctors) which means that this event is not suitable for this group. It will be clearly stated if an event is open to a specific delegate group. If you are unsure if an event is suitable for you, please email events@rcoa.ac.uk

Our tiered discounted rates are only available to members of the Royal College of Anaesthetists. Please visit our Membership section for information about joining the College. If you are a member of the College and are unsure about the type of membership you hold, please email events@rcoa.ac.uk with your College Reference Number/GMC number and we will get back to you.

Once an event becomes full, it will be marked as ‘Fully Booked’ on our website and the registration link will no longer appear on the event page. Please email events@rcoa.ac.uk with the name and date of the event to be added to the waiting list. As soon as a place becomes available you will be contacted to check whether you are still interested in attending. There is no guarantee that, once placed on a waiting list, a place will become available at an event.

Notice of cancellation should be emailed to events@rcoa.ac.uk at least ten working days prior to the event start date to qualify for a refund. Refunds are not available if you cancel your place within ten working days of the event. All refunds are subject to a £40 administration fee. Alternatively, you can change the name on your booking free of charge up until the day of the event – name change requests must also be made in writing. See our full terms and conditions for more information.

Bookings are non-transferable – if you are cancelling more than ten working days before the event we will refund you (minus a £40 administration charge) and you can book onto another event. Alternatively, you can change the name on your booking free of charge up until the day of the event.

Unfortunately, our booking system doesn’t allow for amendments once payment has been made. If you need to make any changes to your booking, for example, you have registered for the incorrect days, please email events@rcoa.ac.uk so that we can update this for you.

Yes, we send out final information to all delegates one week before the event, which will include the times that registration will begin, directions to the College and a copy of the programme.

After the event

Certificates of attendance will be emailed to attendees within two weeks of the end date of the event.

We value all comments and use feedback to continuously improve our events. All attendees are invited via email to participate in a short survey about the event once it has finished. Alternatively, please speak to a member of the team on the event day, or email events@rcoa.ac.uk

Presentations and other materials will be emailed to delegates once the event has taken place. We are only able to publish materials from speakers that have given us permission to do so.
