Anaesthetists in training must record the details of anaesthetics they have given in a suitable logbook. Use of the Lifelong Learning Platform (LLP) logbook is recommended, as this records and presents data in the format required for ARCP panels to review. Data in the LLP is backed up securely, compliant with the relevant regulations.
We recognise that some anaesthetists in training prefer to use other solutions to record logbook data. This should be presented at ARCP in the same format generated by the LLP logbook summary function, so that educational supervisors and ARCP panels can easily review the logbook.
The RCoA Anaesthetics Curriculum and Learning Platform recommends a logbook summary in the format shown here: Logbook Summary Data Set
Those not using the LLP logbook should ensure that their data is stored securely, is backed up and that they have a contingency plan in case of withdrawal of support for an app or loss of device.
