Supporting candidates

Trainers play an important role in helping candidates understand the new examination formats and prepare for the skills and behaviours being assessed.

Trainers can support candidates by:

  • discussing the purpose and structure of the new assessments
  • helping candidates understand how the new formats differ from the current exams
  • using workplace discussion to explore clinical reasoning and decision-making
  • supporting preparation through supervised learning events
  • encouraging simulation and scenario-based practice
  • helping candidates reflect on communication, prioritisation and safe decision-making
  • signposting candidates to sample materials, webinars and FAQs
