RCoA welcomes the Future of Surgery Report

Commenting on the ‘Future of Surgery’ report from the Royal College of Surgeons, Professor Ravi Mahajan, President of the Royal College of Anaesthetists said:

“We welcomed the opportunity to input into this important report and it is pleasing to see it highlight the increasing role anaesthetists play in the perioperative care of patients before, during and after surgery.

“It is clear, as the report says, that patients will benefit from even closer collaboration between surgeons, anaesthetists and other team members in planning interventions and ensuring the delivery of the best care and follow-up after surgery.

“We will continue to work with colleagues across all medical specialties to ensure patients receive the right care at the right time and drive improvements in outcomes.”
