Entries are now open for the College sponsored Anaesthesia and Perioperative Medicine Team of the Year Award
The Royal College of Anaesthetists is pleased to be sponsoring the Anaesthesia and Perioperative Medicine Team of the Year category at the 2019 BMJ Awards. Entries are now open.
Started in 2008, the BMJ Awards are the UK's leading medical awards programme, recognising and celebrating inspirational work undertaken by clinicians and the teams they work with. The Anaesthesia and Perioperative Medicine Team of the Year award will recognise an innovative project in the field of anaesthesia which has measurably improved care for patients.
Last year the team at the Royal Bournemouth and Christchurch NHS Trust led by consultant anaesthetist Dr Elaine O’Shea, won the Anaesthesia and Perioperative Medicine Team of the Year award for its Managing Complex Surgical Pain programme and its work offering preoperative psychological interventions to patients. More information about the award-winning programme can be found here.
Professor Ravi Mahajan, President of the Royal College of Anaesthetists, said:
“Yet again, the BMJ Awards are providing perioperative teams with the platform to showcase their innovative patient-focused research and quality improvement activities. Perioperative medicine is not only the responsibility of anaesthetists, but of all medical specialties – and it’s this integration of services which I am most looking forward to seeing within this year’s entries. I therefore strongly encourage as many perioperative teams as possible to take part and submit their entries for the Anaesthesia and Perioperative Medicine Team of the Year category. I look forward to this being an incredibly competitive category.”
Entries are invited until Friday 18 January 2019. More information can be found on the BMJ Awards website.
