Governance groups play an important role in the National Clinical Audit of Perioperative Care (NCAPC) by providing oversight, guidance and accountability. They bring together a range of clinical, expert and patient perspectives to shape the audit, review its findings and ensure it reflects real‑world practice. Together, they help make sure the audit is credible, transparent and focused on improving care. The main groups include:
Strategic Oversight Board
The Strategic Oversight Board (SOB) provides independent oversight of NCAPC, helping to guide its overall direction and ensure the audit is delivered effectively. It also supports the team in managing risks and meeting the expectations of commissioners and funders.
