After some obstetric experience she worked for 2 years as a GP in Maidenhead before deciding to take up anaesthetics. During her training she spent a year in Montreal, and was a South Western region anaesthetic trainee based in Bristol. She was appointed consultant anaesthetist in Portsmouth in 1994.

Professional interests and activities

She helped develop and run the obstetric anaesthesia clinic. In the mid 1990’s she visited South Africa as part of a team put together by the World Federation of Societies of Anaesthesiologists. In September 1995 she led a team to Botswana and Mauritius.

Other biographical information

Anne married Roger Miall, a shipping manager, a few months before her death. Her hobbies included gardening, opera, cycling, needle work, and she was an avid reader.
