Mr Hany Choueiri
Biography
Mr Choueiri operates as a senior manager in data, technology, and transformation for over 30 years and was voted as a Data IQ top 100 influencer. Most recently, he was the interim Head of Data at Sainsbury’s Bank where he spearheaded data and technology transformation.
Currently working at Social Security Scotland as Head of Data Services responsible for data sharing and the transition of Data Services from Scottish Government into Social Security Scotland. Previously he was the Chief Data Officer at Aldermore Bank and consulted extensively on the General Data Protection Regulation for many organisations, including AON, across Central Eastern Europe. Before AON, he worked as the Bank of England’s first Chief Data Officer, leading the strategic One Bank Data initiative while representing the Bank of England at the Regulatory Oversight Committee.
He currently holds a board director position at the Global Legal Entity Foundation (GLEIF) where he was also Vice-Chair.
He was appointed to the RCoA in April 2024 as a Lay Trustee with a particular interest in data and digitisation innovation. The role of the NHS during the COVID crisis has fuelled his passion for the health service and care.
His other interests include raising awareness of ESG and the use of data for social purpose, for which he oversees social media groups on the LinkedIn platform.
