Professional life and career

Postgraduate career

After graduation Christie became a resident anaesthetist at the Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. By 1940 he moved to Glasgow where he was Visiting Anaesthetist to the Victoria Infirmary. There he was promoted to Consultant Anaesthetist in the NHS and remained in this post until his retirement about 1977.

Professional interests and activities

He was a member of the Association of Anaesthetists of Great Britain & Ireland, and he was President of the Glasgow and West of Scotland Society of Anaesthetists for 1955-56. His anaesthetic sessions included urological surgery by Mr Thomas Chapman. He published a letter on neostigmine-resistant curarization. 

Other biographical information

He enjoyed fishing, participating in an annual outing with Thomas Chapman to Glendaruel in Argyll. He died in Glasgow at the age of 95 years.
