Biography
I am a Consultant in Adult Intensive Care Medicine, Cardiff and Vale University Health Board; a large intensive care service including major trauma, neuro-critical care, CAR T and other immunotherapies, and Out of Hospital Cardiac Arrest (OOHCA). I have an interest in recovery post critical illness.
I am the President of the College of Intensive Care Medicine since July 2026 (prior to this the Dean of Faculty of Intensive Care Medicine (FICM) from October 2025). I have also been Vice Dean, Chair of the Small and Specialist Units Advisory Group (SSUAG) and Chair of the Careers Recruitment and Workforce Committee. I have examined for EDIC, DICM and FICM.
I am the ex-Chair Green ICU Group in Cardiff and the FICM representative for the Intensive Care Society Sustainability Group
I trained in medicine, anaesthesia, and ICM. I have only worked in ICM since 2002. I am interested in the development of ICM as a UK stand-alone specialty and College.
I believe there is a lot more we can do as healthcare professionals in relation to sustainable healthcare, as well as more widely providing leadership in this area. We need to sustain a world worth living in for our patients, our staff and our families.
I am interested in biodiversity and swimming.
