Professional life and career
Postgraduate career
After qualifying she was house surgeon at the Royal Victoria Hospital, Folkestone and then house officer in anaesthetics at the Westminster and Mount Vernon (Northwood) Hospitals. By 1935 she was anaesthetist at the Bollingbroke and Prince of Wales General (Tottenham) Hospitals, Eastman Dental Clinic (at the Royal Free) and the Plastic Surgery Unit at Hammersmith Hospital. She continued at the first two hospitals, but by 1940 the others had been replaced by apppointments at Queen’s Hospital for Children in Hackney and with Bethnal Green Borough Council. In 1942 she is recorded as a temporary Assistant County Medical Officer in Devon, an appointment presumably connected with her husband’s service in the Royal Navy. By 1945 she was back in London, with her primary appointment being to the EMS at West Middlesex Hospital, but also working at her previous hospitals. After the EMS ended she was based at St Andrew’s Hospital, Dollis Hill, but continued at a range of others others up until the time of her death.
