Tom Grinyer to leave RCoA after four years of strong strategic leadership

Responding to the news that Royal College of Anaesthetists' Chief Executive, Tom Grinyer, has accepted the role of Chief Executive of the British Medical Association, Professor Ravi Mahajan, President of the College said:

"I'd like to thank and congratulate Tom for his leadership and service to the College, its members and the specialty of anaesthesia. In the last four years since joining the College in 2015, Tom has had a key role in improving our governance working closely with our Council and latterly our Board of Trustees. He also developed our first ever strategy and oversaw a significant increase in membership. Tom leaves the College in a strong position for his successor to build on.

“With Tom due to leave the College in mid-July, current Deputy Chief Executive, Sharon Drake, will take over the reins as Interim CEO until a permanent successor is found. The discussion of the formal recruitment process to replace Tom will commence at the next meeting of the College’s Board of Trustees in May.”
