Safety notification: Smiths Bivona® Tracheostomy tubes

A series of incidents has been reported involving Bivona Silicone tracheostomy tubes (pictured below). 

The National Tracheostomy Safety Project (NTSP) has published a safety notification in response. 

All anaesthetists involved in the care of patients with a tracheostomy using one of these tubes should read this notification and comply with its recommendations, including to report any failures to the MHRA.
