Dr Matthew Davies

I am a Consultant in Anaesthesia at North West Anglia NHS Trust. I am currently the President of the Association of Anaesthetists and have been a Board member since 2017. I spent 19 years in the Royal Air Force during my training and early Consultant years. I was also a qualified principal in General Practice and spent 3 years as a General Duties Medical Officer before my Anaesthesia Training.

I have an interest in Human Factors and "moral" medicine and the harm an ineffectual safety culture can do to both patients and practitioners.  I was the Clinical Lead for ICM in the Trust during the first wave of the COVID Pandemic and sit on the Trust's Ethical Board.

I am a passionate rugby (armchair only now) fan and enjoy all things based on the water. I rely on my wife and children to remind me to live in the moment and a black Labrador to emphasise how simple life should be: food, walk and love.
