RCoA Advisory Board for Wales

Health is a devolved issue within Wales and over time the provision of healthcare within Wales has diverged from that in the other parts of the UK.

The RCoA Advisory Board in Wales is a RCoA Committee and is a joint committee with the Welsh National Specialty Advisory Group (NSAG) Anaesthesia. The Board advises RCoA Council on the Welsh perspective relating to aspects of College function. In addition (via the NSAG) the Board is part of the Welsh Government advisory structure for health. The Chair of the Board is a co-opted member of College Council

The Board is comprised of consultant anaesthetists elected from each of the main anaesthetic departments across Wales as well as having trainee, RA, Specialty Doctor and lay representation. In addition, there are a number of co-opted members. The Board meets regularly to discuss appropriate issues and in addition currently has two sub-groups considering the fields of critical care medicine and pain medicine in Wales.
