  • Board member and part of teaching faculty for PrOMPT (Practical Obstetric Multi-professional Training). This is a registered charity that works to improve safety for mothers and babies through intrapartum team training. I am involved in teaching for maternity staff in the UK and abroad. I receive no payment other than expenses for this work.
  • President-elect of the Society of Anaesthetists of the Southwestern Region. I will hold this post from November 2016 to November 2017. I will not receive any payment other than expenses.

Biography

Having qualified from Bristol University in 1985 and trained in anaesthetics in Bristol, Oxford and Geneva, Dr Donald was appointed as a Consultant at Southmead Hospital in Bristol in 1997.  Her main area of clinical and research interest is obstetric anaesthesia concentrating on improvements in safety through team training.  Dr Donald has long been involved in teaching and training junior anaesthetists and has been College Tutor, Education Director and Chair of the Board for the Bristol School of Anaesthesia. She is currently deputy Chair of the Final FRCA exam.  On the management side, Dr Donald spent 3 years as Chair of her Trust’s Consultant Committee, relinquishing the post at the end of 2015.
