The Royal College of Anaesthetists is undergoing a period of exciting growth and change. This new Head of Finance role will manage the RCoA’s finance function and team, ensuring the delivery of a full and seamless financial service, whilst also driving forward key strategic projects. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accountant who is passionate about finance and is ready for a fresh challenge.

In order to be successful in this role, you will have well-developed interpersonal and coaching skills, with the ability to manage, motivate and develop a team. You will also be able to demonstrate a track record of producing accurate and timely annual accounts and key financial data.

You will be responsible for overseeing transactional financial operations, such as accounts payable, receivable and payroll but will also help the team track areas for improvement, and introduce changes where necessary.

A key change project in which you will be the finance ‘champion’ is the introduction of a new ledger, where you will utilise your excellent project management skills to ensure a seamless implementation.

Your outstanding analytical skills and focus on customer service will enable you to interpret, assess and meet internal and external customers’ needs innovatively.  These skills, coupled with your financial expertise, including a strong understanding of the charitable financial regulatory and statutory environment, will make you the ‘go to’ person for colleagues.

If you thrive on the challenge of developing a team, its work and yourself, please provide a CV and cover letter addressing the following points:

  • Tell us how you have delivered excellent customer service?
  • Describe a change programme you led on, the outcomes achieved and the lessons you learnt
  • How have you developed your current finance team to deliver an improved performance?

Please refer to the job description to help you provide relevant examples.
