The Royal College of Anaesthetists is the professional body responsible for educating, training and setting standards in Anaesthesia. We are looking for an experienced and organised coordinator to support the delivery of the College’s accreditation programme. This is a diverse and busy role, involving liaison with hospital departments. You’ll be working closely with our accreditation committee, clinical, lay and administrative reviewers, external finance departments and our own finance team to deliver this important initiative for the College.

The Team
The Clinical Quality team covers a diverse range of activities in support of anaesthetists and patients across the UK. Activities include providing professional advice to enquiries from the public and professionals, administrative support in the recruitment of consultants and management of patient safety issues.

The Role
The successful candidate will support all aspects of the College’s accreditation scheme including: raising awareness of the scheme among hospitals throughout the UK and other stakeholder groups; providing information to support an anaesthesia hospital department’s progress towards accreditation; providing secretarial support to the relevant committee and producing paperwork to support the process. You will form part of the accreditation team, including attending hospital visits and some overnight stays. Therefore this role requires highly developed administrative, IT and committee servicing skills, underpinned by an eye for detail and an instinct for keeping one step ahead.

You will be a natural and methodical organiser and able to use these skills not only to effectively manage your own workload and time, but to also offer first class support to the Head of Clinical Quality and Clinical Quality Manager. The post holder will be joining a diverse and friendly team who deliver to the highest standards through their conscientious approach to work and therefore the successful candidate will also need to be a highly motivated and flexible team player.

The successful candidate will have excellent judgment of people and situations developed through previous work with senior figures. Experience of working in a healthcare, training or education environment is an advantage, as is knowledge of accreditation schemes (either in healthcare or different industry).
