The Royal College of Anaesthetists (RCoA) has an exciting opportunity to work as our 25th Anniversary Programme Co-ordinator to join the team in Holborn, London. Joining us on a full time, 11 months fixed term contract, you will receive a starting salary between £35,200 and £39,400 (depending on experience).

Anaesthesia is the UK’s largest secondary care specialty.  16% of all hospital consultants are anaesthetists and over two-thirds of hospital in-patients will see an anaesthetist.  The Royal College of Anaesthetists (RCoA) supports approximately 17,500 members and fellows and approximately 3,500 from the College’s Faculties of Intensive Care Medicine and Pain Medicine.

The College celebrates 25 years as a Royal College in 2017. A milestone for any organisation, our 25th Anniversary is made all the more significant given our growth in stature in those years and the influence that anaesthesia, as the largest single secondary care specialty, has on patient experience and outcome. As part of the celebrations, we have planned a year-long programme of events and activities that will celebrate the achievements of the College, its history and role in the development of the specialty, and our vision for the specialty for the next 25 years.

We are looking for an experienced Programme Co-ordinator who will provide high level support, communications, administration and overall co-ordination of our 25th Anniversary Programme. The Co-ordinator will be a confident and proactive individual with strong communication, organisational and project planning skills. He/she will thrive on the challenge of delivering a first class programme of external events and activities.

Key responsibilities of the Programme Co-ordinator

  • Leading the communications and marketing for the 25th Anniversary with all stakeholders
  • Close liaison with the communications and external affairs team
  • Responsible for the development and effective co-ordination and delivery of the 25th Anniversary Programme
  • Committee Secretary
  • Budget Management
  • Evaluation of the 25th Anniversary Programme
  • Marketing and promotion of the 25th Anniversary programme to specific target audiences

Knowledge, skills and experience required by the Programme Co-ordinator

  • Excellent standard of education to a degree level or equivalent
  • Management of a major project or programme of work
  • Developed and proven excellent skills in the use of spoken and written English
  • Experience of organising national meetings
  • Committee servicing
  • Experience of setting and managing budgets
  • Experience of handling administrative work of a considerable variety and volume and prioritising successfully under pressure
  • Knowledge and application of using social media platforms within a communications role
  • Experience of copywriting for use in different formats: media releases, newsletters, social media, formal reports back to Council, brochures
  • Ability to travel to all 25th Anniversary events across the UK
