Global Partnerships Strategy

The RCoA’s Global Partnerships Strategy is multifaceted and enables the College to work collaboratively with partners to share our experience in designing and delivering curricula and assessment methods. Our training and examinations are internationally recognised for their fairness and high standards.  We are committed to supporting UK anaesthetists who wish to work or train in low and middle-income countries. We want to identify new partner organisations and create collaborative opportunities as well as further strengthen existing relationships with our global partners.

We will develop a range of educational tools and continue to explore the potential of producing resources to reach wide audiences. The RCoA will also work in partnership with the eIntegrity, the World Federation of Societies of Anaesthesiologists and The Association of Anaesthetists of Great Britain and Ireland, to provide a low cost e-Learning package, covering essential training units for anaesthesia teams in resource-poor countries.

The RCoA will relaunch the updated e-SAFE training resource in 2017. We will also continue to evolve and expand the Medical Training Initiative (MTI) scheme in anaesthesia, which will enable us to recruit MTI doctors from a range of countries and to establish an alumni network for doctors returning to their home countries.

We want to engage with anaesthetists across the world and will continue to expand our membership to establish a network of internationally-based College fellows and members. Closer to home, the RCoA will continue to promote and enhance the profile of global anaesthesia and will encourage UK-based fellows and members with an interest in global anaesthesia to play an active role in related projects.
