Announcement of the FFPMRCA Examination
The Faculty of Pain Medicine (FPM) is pleased to announce its examination for the award of the Fellowship of the Faculty of Pain Medicine of the Royal College of Anaesthetists (FFPMRCA). The examination is consistent with the requirements for Fellowships of other UK Colleges and Faculties and established Faculties of Pain Medicine internationally. The examination will be in addition to, not a replacement for, achievement of the competencies of Advanced Pain Training as currently assessed. The examination will be designed and conducted in accordance with the highest standards and further raise standards of Pain Medicine in the UK.
The examination is open to those who are undertaking, or have completed, Advanced Pain Medicine Training as part of an approved CCT training programme. Fellowship by Assessment will now require the successful completion of the CCT in Anaesthesia and the examination.
All trainees entering Advanced Pain Training after 1 February 2011 will be required to take the examination (MCQ paper and Structured Oral Examinations) in order to achieve the FFPMRCA. Examination dates are set out in the examination calendars (see related downloads).
