Raising the Standard: a compendium of audit recipes

Clinical audit has been variously defined over the years. The National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) and others define clinical audit as ‘a quality improvement process that seeks to improve patient care and outcomes through systematic review of care against explicit criteria and the implementation of change.'

The College provides a selection of audits for local completion in the highly regarded document 'Raising the Standard - A compendium of audit recipes for continuous quality improvement in anaesthesia'.  This provides an increasingly extensive frame of reference on which to base standards and acceptable targets of practice to test by the audit process.
